Privacy Policy

Last updated:

MP3 Trimmer at mp3trimmer.net is operated by an individual under the MP3 Trimmer brand. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the website. The individual operator is responsible for the personal information described here and can be reached at [email protected].

1. Your audio stays on your device

When you choose a file, the editor reads it in your browser. Decoding, waveform display, playback, trimming and MP3 or WAV export all take place on your device. The editor does not send the recording, its filename, its waveform or the exported clip to our servers.

The current edit is held in browser memory. We do not store an online project or a recovery copy. Closing or reloading the page ends that editing session; your original file and any clip you downloaded remain wherever you saved them on your device.

This local processing does not mean that visiting the website is anonymous. Loading pages and using other website features involve the information described below.

2. Information involved in a visit

  • Connection and technical information. Requests to serve pages, scripts and other resources expose information such as your IP address, browser headers, requested URL and request time to the infrastructure that delivers the website. Hosting and security services may record this information in operational logs.
  • First-party visit attribution. The website sets a randomly generated browser identifier in a cookie named aid. It uses this identifier with the landing page path, referring website origin, visit time and campaign parameters such as UTM source, medium and campaign to understand how visitors find the service. Referrer paths and query strings are removed from the stored referrer value. This identifier is pseudonymous, rather than a guarantee of anonymity.
  • Browser preferences. The website can store a theme preference on your device. See our Cookie Policy for the storage used by the site.

Visit attribution does not receive the audio you edit, your selected cut points or your exported clip.

3. Information you choose to provide

If you email [email protected], we receive your email address, your message and any attachments you send. We use this information to answer you, investigate the issue and keep relevant correspondence. Avoid sending passwords, payment details or private recordings that are not needed for your request.

Audio editing does not require an account. If you use an available account feature, we process the information you submit for that feature, such as your email address, username and password, together with account identifiers and verification or sign-in records. Passwords used for account authentication are stored as hashes. A signed-in account may be linked to the browser's visit attribution identifier.

The current audio editor is free and does not request payment information.

4. Why information is used

We use website information to deliver pages, maintain security, troubleshoot errors, understand referral sources and improve the service. Information you provide is used to respond to your request or operate the account feature you choose to use. We may also need relevant records to meet legal obligations or handle a dispute.

Where applicable data protection law requires a legal basis, these purposes may involve providing a service you request, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the website, complying with legal obligations or consent for processing that requires it. You can contact us about the basis for a particular use of your information.

5. Service providers and disclosure

Running the website involves hosting, database and email services. These providers can handle the information necessary to deliver the website, store website records or deliver messages. They do not receive audio from the local editor.

We may disclose relevant information when legally required, to respond to a valid legal request or where necessary to protect the service and the rights or safety of others. Links to external websites are governed by those websites' own privacy policies.

Depending on the services involved, information may be processed in a country other than your own. Contact us if you need details about where information associated with your visit or request is handled.

6. Storage, retention and security

Your audio is not retained on our servers. Browser cookie lifetimes are listed in the Cookie Policy; a cookie expiring does not by itself delete related website records.

Retention of operational logs, attribution records, account records and correspondence depends on the purpose of the record, the service provider involved and any legal or security requirements. There is no single retention period covering all of these categories. You can ask us about a particular record or request deletion using the contact details below.

The website uses HTTPS, and account authentication includes measures such as password hashing and protected session cookies. No website or email service can guarantee absolute security. Local processing also does not protect a recording from someone who has access to your device.

7. Your choices and rights

You can use the audio editor without registering or giving us your email address. You can also manage cookies and site storage through your browser, as explained in our Cookie Policy.

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion or a copy of personal information, to restrict or object to processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You may also be able to complain to your local data protection authority.

Send privacy requests to [email protected]. Describe the information or activity involved; we may ask for enough information to verify your request. Some requests are subject to legal exceptions, and we cannot retrieve audio that was processed only on your device.

8. Children

The website is a general-purpose audio tool and is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, contact [email protected] so we can investigate and address it.

9. Updates and contact

We will update this policy when the service or its data practices change and revise the date above. For questions about privacy or this policy, contact [email protected].
